Procedural Generation: Scale vs. Density

I wonder if that shift means a return to hand placed secrets... like using specific geometry to hide items... instead of just relying on a seed to spawn a loot chest in a random corner?
All this theory ignores the practical problem of navigation. When you prioritize scale over density, you lose unique landmarks, which just means players spend more time staring at a waypoint marker than actually looking at the world.
I am not sure the trend is universal. The current surge in tight, corridor based indie shooters suggests a significant portion of the market is actively rejecting scale for intentional layout.
The context changes if you consider Asha Sharma's recent mandate at Xbox banning generative AI for creative content. That indicates at least one major platform holder is attempting a hard pivot back toward human curation.
